Emergency and Alcoholism: Resources and Competences of the Alcoholic System and the Alcohol Care System

We use the metaphor of drama to understand redundancy in emergency, deny mechanisms, and the alcoholic patient’s systemic function. Possibilities exist therefore to explore with the actors of the alcoholic drama alternative views of the crisis and change the context of the alcoholic patient and his family in an unpredictable way. Thus therapists will have recourse to resources and competences not only from the family system but from the care system too; thus, the therapists avoid being triangulated and disparaged. We present five main points in order to accomplish this contextualization of an unpredictable intervention and return a temporal dimension not only to the alcoholic family system but also to the care system.
