“Mommy, please help me! I am too little.”: The Consequences of a Lack of Autonomy at School
Type de matériel :
84
According to the author, a lack of autonomy for a child in everyday life (dressing up, washing, tidying, etc.) is very often accompanied by difficulties at school. She proposes an interpretation of the interactions between the child and his/her parents, an interpretation of the interactions between the child and the teacher, and some hypotheses on how those interactions were built. Additionally, she presents some examples of interventions, based on the collaboration and on the sharing of accurate information between the school and the parents, but mainly on the fact that encouraging some progress in autonomy for those children allows them to regain a feeling of being competent, which generates better results at school.
