The work of co-intervention, by two or more people, cannot be improvised. It is not the absence of crises which guarantees the health of a team, but its capacity to experience them, to identify its ailments, and the ability to overcome them. Tensions are part of institutional life, just as inner conflict is inherent to the human condition. How can professionals challenge each other and face the questions and dilemmas in which they can be stuck? How cant they continue to cooperate beyond the conflict? All these questions require a fundamental climate of trust, permanently revived to create a negotiation space and to allow for mutual development in the service of clinical work. The concept of “differentiation of self” elaborated by M. Bowen can be kept in mind in order to avoid pitfalls and to foster a context in which the voice of everyone emerges from relational issues.
