When families come for a consultation in the context of difficulties in separating, they show first what they have lost. Therefore, referring to existing models, the systemic approach has often interpreted these difficulties in light of the grieving process. But separated families cannot be reduced to their losses or to the actual clinical models. Their complexity leads us to think of new explanatory models and new clinical applications. That is what we aim to do in the present article.
