Siblings’ Relationships and Intellectual Disability: Questioning Parenting
Type de matériel :
38
The aim of this article is to discuss the type of relationship that takes place among atypical siblings where one is confronted with an intellectual disability. Two case studies are examined based on the results of a previous study that identified the specificities in the relationship between disabled children and their siblings. The processes of parentalization and/or parentification which may appear among those siblings can be defined and illustrated through these studies. This article proposes a bridge between research and clinical practice through the possible interventions in familial systems confronted with the intellectual disability of one of their members.
