Adolescent experiences of “satisfactory coparenting” after parental separation

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2019. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The aim of the present article is to enhance the understanding of the concept of “satisfactory” coparenting after conjugal breakdown. We set out to answer the following question: How do adolescents give meaning to the quality of their parents’ coparenting relationship after marital separation? We analyzed the experiences of five adolescents. Our participants were the offspring of two separate heterosexual parenting couples. Using interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA) (Smith et al. 2009), we identified two main themes that seem to describe how adolescents make sense of the quality of their parents’ coparenting relationship after marital separation: the experience of family dynamics, and the satisfaction of their specific needs.
