This article aims to present the study of a controversy in which a new category of actors, who define themselves as “indigenous and environmentalist”, has been established following a mining conflict in South Province of New Caledonia. The text shows the way environmental groups have made common cause with local Kanak people to protest against the mining project Goro Nickel.
