This study examines the independent information websites that movements or political parties have put on the Internet themselves. The forms that persuasion, by the far left as well as far right, takes on the websites show some formal convergences. The study of some of the rumors propagated after the September 11 attacks in discussion groups on the Internet, in traditional media, and on the "alternative" sites makes it possible to highlight the constants of cyberpropaganda. The analysis of the political and social functions of propaganda on the net point to the nature of the links propaganda has with traditional forms of persuasion.
