This article gives a selective account of the ideas and practices shared at the UNAFORIS-EASSW conference in Paris, June 2017, entitled Social Work Education in Europe: Challenging Boundaries, Promoting a Sustainable Future. Several major trends in social work education emerged: the need to reaffirm social work values in training; the uses of new technologies for a more inclusive approach; the engagement of social work education in response to the refugee crisis; cooperative and participatory approaches to teaching and curriculum design. The authors show how the participation of service users (considered “resource persons”) became a guiding principle running through all the innovative responses presented to each of these issues.
