The paper contains nineteen Canarian terms adduced by D. J. Wölfel in his Monumenta Linguae Canariae, their analysis, suggested reading and etymologies. Four or five of them are likely loanwords; of those considered genuine, thirteen or fourteen have parallels in Berber, twelve in Chadic, twelve have sound cognates in several Afrasian branches. The terms under consideration represent several semantic fields: human being, kinship; society, culture; human body.
