La réforme de la protection juridique des majeurs est venue apporter de nouveaux droits aux majeurs protégés. La mise en place de cette nouvelle loi a obligé les professionnels chargés de cette protection à changer leurs pratiques, mais cela n’a pas été sans difficultés. À partir de quelques exemples, nous verrons comment ces professionnels, en majorité issus du travail social, ont pu retrouver les fondamentaux de leur profession en remettant le bénéficiaire au centre des préoccupations afin qu’il devienne acteur de sa prise en charge.

The reform of legal protection for adults has led to the introduction of new rights for protected adults. The implementation of this new law has forced professionals tasked with providing this protection to change their practices, but this has not occurred without difficulty. On the basis of various examples, we will see how these professionals, most of whom practice within the field of social work, have managed to rediscover the fundamentals of their profession by placing the beneficiary back at the center of their concerns so that s/he becomes an actor within his/her own care process.
