L’hikikomori définit un syndrome de claustration volontaire chez certains adolescents. Il est décrit pour la première fois au Japon. L’approche sociale (syndrome primaire) est très contingente à une dialectique psychopathologique (syndrome secondaire). Il serait un nouvel idiome sociétal traduisant une souffrance eu égard au passage du monde l’enfance vers celui de l’adulte. L’enjeu thérapeutique sera de restaurer un lien à l’altérité tant au plan familial qu’environnemental.

Hikikomori refers to a syndrome of voluntary claustration among some adolescents. It was first described in Japan. The social approach (primary syndrome) is very contingent on a psychopathological dialectic (secondary syndrome). It would represent a new societal idiom translating a suffering about the passage from the world of childhood to that of adulthood. The therapeutic challenge will be to restore a link to otherness at both the family and environmental levels.
