RésuméUn échange de regard suffit à nous interpeller… Nous restons sidérés, « médusés », mais aussi fascinés par ces visages que nous qualifions de monstrueux, et qui sont ceux d’enfants dont la vie sera rythmée par la chirurgie. Que viennent-ils mobiliser en nous qui devons quotidiennement y faire face? Comment vivent-ils, ces enfants au parcours tellement compliqué, emmaillé de chirurgies, et au visage maintes fois transformé? C’est à ces différentes questions que nous avons essayé d’apporter quelques éléments de réponse.

It takes but one exchange of looks to detain us; we remain stupefied, “surprised”, yet we are also fascinated by faces that if we were to be brutally honest, we would qualify as monstrous. They are the unfortunate faces of children whose young lives will be frequented by surgeries. What do they stir up in us, we who have to face them daily? How do they live, these children that follow a life’s path that’s very complex, rattled with surgeries and a repeated changing of their facial identity? It’s to these questions that we have tried to bring some kind of response. When faced with such a reality many questions arise. In the following article we attempt to offer some answers to these questions.
