L’auteur étudie ici les croisements entre la contestation, cette dimension fondamentale dans le processus de séparation-autonomisation adolescent, et l’engagement. Quand celui-ci recouvre l’angoisse de séparation, que contient la contestation, il pousse celle-ci vers les voies de la désocialisation et même de la radicalisation. Quand, au contraire, l’engagement investit des « objets internes », il peut contribuer à la réalisation des buts sociaux et sublimés.

In this article the author studies the intersections between contestation, a fundamental dimension in the process of adolescent separation-autonomisation, and commitment. When the commitment covers over the separation anxiety contained in contestation, it pushes the latter towards paths of desocialization and even of radicalization. When, on the contrary, the commitment involves investing in « internal objects », it can contribute to the realization of social and sublimated aims.
