Cent ans après, les deux positions, l’identification projective ou encore l’Œdipe précoce ne cessent d’intriguer les psychanalystes contemporains. Au point d’affirmer : « Il faut avoir lu Melanie Klein pour comprendre Freud. » Elle a ouvert la voie à l’audace et l’inventivité en psychanalyse, aussi bien d’adultes que d’enfants, comme nous le rappelle la lecture de ses nombreux cas cliniques.

Twenty-first century psychoanalysts are now revisiting the great Kleinian concepts and highlighting their modernity. One hundred years on, the two positions, projective identifications and the early Oedipus complex continue to intrigue contemporary psychoanalysts. So much so, in fact, that some say : “You have to have read Melanie Klein to understand Freud”. She paved the way for boldness and inventiveness in both adult and child psychoanalysis, as we can see from her many clinical cases.
