En juin 1958, Lacan reprend à son compte le geste du petit Hans chiffonnant sa girafe, et nous invite à chiffonner le graphe du désir. Considérant que le chiffonné fait charnière entre les graphes et les surfaces, j’ai cherché à préciser les propriétés mathématiques d’un espace chiffonné. Cela m’a conduit à le comparer à l’espace fibré, et à faire la conjecture que l’espace chiffonné est un espace lacanien.

Is a crumpled space a Lacanian space ? In June 1958 Lacan adopts as his own the gesture of little Hans crumpling his toy giraffe and calls for a crumpling of the graph of desire. Considering that the crumpled is the turning point between graphs and surfaces, I have attempted to specify the mathematical properties of a crumpled space. This has lead me to comparing it to a fibered space and thus to the conjecture that a crumpled space is a Lacanian space.
