RésuméSi peu d’études portent sur la région du Nord, c’est sans doute parce qu’elle peut apparaître comme un territoire dépourvu de véritable particularisme et marqué par la seule image d’une industrie déchue et des handicaps sociaux. Sont ici interrogés les processus qui ont conduit à l’élaboration d’une image régionale aujourd’hui dépassée et à identifier, à travers mutations et innovations, l’émergence de nouvelles images.

If very few studies are devoted to the North region this is perhaps due to the fact that it may appear as a territory deprived of any authentic particularism and marked by the only image of a destroyed industry and social handicaps. We study here processes that have led to the elaboration of a regional image, now outmoded, and to identify through past mutations and innovations the emergence of new images.

ZusammenfassungWenn sich sehr wenige Studien mit Nordfrankreich befassen, liegt das vielleicht daran, dass diese Gegend keine echte Eigentümlichkeiten darzustellen scheint und sich durch das einzige Bild einer zerstörten Industrie und sozialer Handikapen kennzeichnet. Hier werden die Prozesse studiert, die zu der Schaffung eines heute altmodischen regionalen Bildes geführt haben, und die ermöglichen, aus den eingetretenen Änderungen und Innovationen das Auftreten neuer Bilder zu identifizieren.
