RésuméCet article retrace la longue histoire de la recherche concernant l’aide humanitaire, inscrite dans la filiation des études anthropologiques sur la situation coloniale, le développement, la santé et, plus largement, sur le politique. Il montre comment cette histoire doit aujourd’hui intégrer les évolutions récentes tant du côté de l’aide humanitaire et des politiques du développement, que des recherches en anthropologie portant sur ces thèmes. Il relève enfin des glissements thématiques et conceptuels entre ces divers champs au sens éminemment politique, que seule peut saisir une anthropologie de l’aide internationale, à la fois ancrée dans l’histoire de la discipline et prenant à bras-le-corps les reconfigurations actuelles de l’aide.

Colonialism, Development and Humanitarian Aid. Towards an Anthropology of International AidFor some, humanitarian aid is seen as a new theme in anthropological research, and therefore virgin territory. However, the study of humanitarian aid is part of a long intellectual history that we trace in this article. However, this history needs to take into account recent changes in humanitarian aid and development and in anthropological research on these themes. We find an increasingly marked thematic and conceptual blurring between humanitarian aid and development aid, a phenomenon that is noteworthy among aid actors and among anthropologists who take development and humanitarian aid as their objects of study. This blurring has an eminently political aspect, which can only be grasped by an anthropology of international aid.

ZusammenfassungDer vorliegende Artikel widmet sich der Forschungsgeschichte der humanitären Hilfe unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der unterschiedlichen anthropologischen Forschung in den Bereichen Kolonialismus, Entwicklung, Gesundheit und Politik. Es wird gezeigt, dass diese Forschungsgeschichte heute sowohl aus der Perspektive der humanitären Hilfe als auch der Entwicklungspolitik heraus betrachtet werden muss ; ebenso wie aus dem Blickwinkel der anthropologischen Forschungen in diesem Themengebiet. Dabei tritt deutliche hervor, dass die Grenzen der einzelnen Forschungsfelder mehr und mehr verschwimmen und dass eine Anthropologie der humanitären Hilfe nötig wäre, die sowohl in der Geschichte ihrer Disziplin verwurzelt ist, als auch dazu in der Lage ist, die aktuellen Konzepte humanitärer Hilfe neu zu denken.
