L’auteure s’interroge sur la nature du paradigme ethnocritique et sur la filiation de ce nouveau type de lecture avec les études littéraires et l’ethnologie. L’article propose d’abord une esquisse d’épistémologie de l’ethnocritique dans son actualité la plus récente, précisant les rapports que cette approche interdisciplinaire entretient avec l’ethnographie et l’anthropologie culturelle. L’article prend ensuite pour point d’appui l’incipit du récit Osnabrück d’Hélène Cixous : il propose une réflexion sur les manières dont l’écrivaine se met en scène et sur les différences entre œuvres académiques et fictions littéraires, comme entre l’écriture et la vie.

Discussing Osnabrück by Hélène Cixous : Ethnocritical ProposalsThe author questions the paradigm of ethnocriticism and the parentage of this new kind of reading with literary studies and ethnology. As an essay in the epistemology of ethnocriticism, the article tries to clarify the relationship between this interdisciplinary approach with ethnography and cultural anthropology. It concentrates on the study of the beginning of the novel Osnabrück by Helene Cixous : it discusses the author’s self-presentation and the differences between academic works and literary fictions, and between life and words.

Die Autorin untersucht die Natur der ethnokritischen Paradigmen und die Abstammung dieser neuen Leseart, die Literaturwissenschaft und Ethnologie verbindet. Der Artikel erstellt in einem ersten Schritt eine Skizze des aktuellen Stands der Epistemologie und Ethnokritik und unterstreicht, dass dieser interdisziplinäre Ansatz mit der Ethnographie und der kulturellen Anthropologie verbunden ist. Der Artikel bezieht sich im Folgenden auf die Erzählung Osnabrück von Hélène Cixous. Er analysiert, wie die Schriftstellerin sich in Szene setzt und beschreibt die Unterschiede zwischen akademischem Werk und literarischer Fiktion, sowie zwischen dem Schreiben und dem Leben.
