Mais ce qui se révèle est le vide de cet Autre. Ce Dieu supposé savoir, auquel l’analyste prêtait sa personne, est le même que celui de la science, de la philosophie. La cure fait sauter ce Dieu‑bouchon. Cependant il existe un autre Dieu, celui qui parle et dont le nom est imprononçable. Si Pascal mathématicien s’autorise du premier, c’est sur le second qu’il parie, en toute incertitude. Abandonner au hasard du jeu, cependant, fût-il calculé arithmétiquement, une vie tenue pour rien, n’est pas engager le a de la jouissance perdue, seul joint effectif d’un Je avec le langage. C’est en quoi le pari de Pascal se distingue du pari analytique, pari sur l’inconsistance de l’Autre.
