Le symptôme apparaît comme un produit figé et indéracinable de l’inconscient. Le politique n’aurait d’autre solution que la gestion, aussi bonne que possible, des symptômes.Le symptôme est, au contraire, une structure de mouvement cachée, à redynamiser pour l’ouvrir à l’invention de l’inconscient : c’est le sinthome. Par son faire et son geste, le sinthome peut et doit interpeller le politique, pour le pousser au-delà de la simple gestion des symptômes.

The symptom appears as a fixed and eradicable product of the unconscious. The politician would have no other solution that the management (gestion) -- as well as possible-- of symptoms. The symptom is, on the contrary, a structure of hidden movement, that can be revitalized by opening it up to the invention of the unconscious: this is the sinthome. By way of its doing and its gesture, the sinthome can and must interpellate the political in order to push it beyond the simple management of symptoms.
