Christian Bonnefoi pratique la peinture. Son intérêt pour les constructivistes russes et les collages cubistes est à l’origine de son approche théorique : il considère qu’à partir de « l’invention » du collage, la peinture oriente l’histoire à rebours, vers son principe. L’œuvre théorique qu’il construit sur ce postulat a contribué à repenser les questions : « Qu’est-ce que le tableau ? », « Qu’est-ce que la peinture ? » Cet échange a été initié par Dina Germanos Besson, repérant dans l’ envers du tableau un écho avec la psychanalyse.

Christian Bonnefoi is a painter. His interest in the Russian constructivists and cubist collages is at the origin of his theoretical approach: he considers that from the “invention” of collage, painting directs history backward, toward its principle. The theoretical work he has built on this premise has contributed to a rethinking of the questions: “What is the painting?”; “What is painting?” This exchange was initiated by Dina Germanos Besson, identifying in the other side of the painting an echo with psychoanalysis.
