All his life, Jung had to fight a temptation to travel beyond life and stay in Eternity, because of the fascination the dimension exerted on him. At the age of ten, he recalled resisting It fiercely: he affirmed his commitment to life on Earth through a process that started with an inexplicable urge to play at carving a little man for himself. The wooden sculpture, the image and product of his personal genius, contained the secret of the destiny awaiting him: to reveal and realize something of eternity to his fellow mortals, without going beyond everyday life. Each of us contains a particular inner genius, related to our share of eternity. It waits to be uncovered, to reveal the secret of its contents and our destiny. Going into convalescence is a similar form of resistance. There, we can fish for what belongs to us so entirely that it expresses our soul.
