Le temps de la thérapie n’est ni le temps des horloges ni celui du calendrier, c’est le temps de l’inscription, celui de la trace. Mais ce temps qui fait trace ne saurait être le même pour le patient et pour le thérapeute, du simple fait que chacun est un autre pour l’autre. Ceci peut aussi s’appliquer à toute relation à deux, en particulier à la relation de couple, ce qui fait que le « vivre ensemble » n’est le plus souvent, mais pas toujours, rien d’autre qu’un « vivre côte à côte ». Ceci conduit à la question du « vieillir ensemble » avec tout ce que cela peut comporter d’illusoire.

The time of therapy is neither the time of clocks nor of the calendar; it is the time of registration, that of leaving a trace. But the time that leaves a trace cannot be the same for both the patient and the therapist, simply because each is the other for the other. This can also apply to any relationship involving two people, particular the relationship of a couple, which makes "living together" is in most cases, but not in always, nothing more than but "living side beside”. This leads to the question of "growing old together" with all the illusions that phrase suggests.
