The test of moral and civic education at school. Romy, a subject-teacher in tension between instructing and educating

Moral and civic education is a test for Romy because the nature of the knowledge involved in EMC, as well as their implementation, provoke in her a tension between instructing and educating that revives a psychic conflict. By taking charge of the embarrassment that the teaching of EMC can cause for certain school teachers, this accompaniment would enable these teachers, in the logic set out by Devereux (1967/2012), “to understand [themselves]” in order to get through the test of moral and civic education.
