This article proposes a theoretical and clinical reflection about the clinical analysis of the subject and the contemporary social bond, from the dual perspective of scientific news and a few selected fragments from the clinical practice of the authors. These fragments were selected because they highlight, both in Europe and Southeast Asia, fundamental articulations of the subject’s structure and the direction of the treatment, trauma, the clinical features of addiction, the clinical features of the rejection of the Unconscious, and also the way in which the subject (dealing with major changes in family and social configurations) tries to resist contemporary social imperatives.
