Beyond the Native Myth: Uncovering the Magic-Sexual Myth

The Athenian native myth has rarely been addressed in psychoanalysis except for being equated with the more classical interpretation of the Earth, portrayed as both nurturing and mother of humanity. In addition to recent progress in psychoanalysis research regarding individual and collective archaic thought, and from a more complex approach to the verticality of human beings, the author demonstrates that beyond the classical interpretations of the Athenian native myth, one can nonetheless detect a magic-sexual myth, closer to archaic thought. This approach is similar to politics as it radically separates the two entities (and yet it articulates them): the Earth, the primal mother, and the Land, foundation of the polis.
