Net art has been promoting the emergence of artworks that disrupt the relationship between art and society since the mid-’90s. Result of a joint development between artists, computer scientists, and the Internet users, the implementation of Net art hybridizes artistic innovation, technological expertise, and the more and more inventive experience of groups of amateurs in an unprecendented manner. This context of collective creation, based on technical interactivity but also on specific social interaction, leads to a redefinition of the traditional shape and functions of the “author” at work in the worlds of art.
