An early childhood educator and anthropology student, the author offers a reflection based on her experience within a housing program for mothers and children in exile. If women draw on “invisibles” in their relationship to their bodies and care in motherhood, social work professionals and institutions are not exempt from this practice. The sometimes-dogmatic knowledge of social workers and the socio-political contexts are among the invisibles that exert their influence on transcultural support situations.

Si les femmes mobilisent des « invisibles » dans leur rapport au corps et aux soins dans la maternité, les professionnels et institutions du travail social ne sont pas en reste. Les connaissances, parfois dogmatiques, des travailleurs sociaux et les contextes socio-politiques sont autant d’invisibles qui exercent leurs influences dans les situations d’accompagnement transculturelles.
