A research study has led us to note that cognitivist authors present the principles and concepts of cybernetics in an approximate and sometimes inaccurate way. These approximations and inaccuracies are part of a rewriting of the history of cybernetics aimed at reducing it to the role of precursor of cognitivism. We hypothesize that cognitivist authors attempt by this rewriting to mix the origins of their movement with the history of science. We look at some of the processes they use for this purpose.
