After defining the notion of mediating conjunctures and explaining its relations with other concepts from the intermedial tradition (mediation, media, cultural series), I will show the ontological stakes linked to this idea. I will focus in particular on the case of the digital culture by trying to propose a paradoxical ontology, an ontology without essence, which grasps the characteristics of a mediation without essentializing it into a “media.”
