Although the web may be seen as a laboratory for literary creation, authors of digital poetry do not necessarily use it. Trying to gain legitimacy in the French literary sphere while advocating digital media in fact represents a paradox, as the avant-garde sets itself apart from online mass media. The article considers the puzzling case of why some leading authors of digital poetry are heavily involved in a collective effort to gain legitimacy as an online group, given that this is detrimental to the visibility of their own work.
