La maladie d’Alzheimer et les maladies apparentées progressent inexorablement avec l’âge : à partir de 85 ans, une femme sur 4 et un homme sur 5 sont touchés. Face à ce triple défi scientifique, médical et social, le président de la République a lancé le 1er février 2008 le plan Alzheimer 2008-2012 doté de moyens spécifiques. Centré sur la personne malade et sa famille, il a pour objectif de fournir un effort sans précédent sur la recherche, de favoriser un diagnostic plus précoce et de mieux prendre en charge les malades et leurs aidants. 44 mesures dans les domaines de la santé, de la solidarité et de la recherche (biomédicale, fondamentale, clinique, économique et sociale) abordent ainsi la pathologie dans son ensemble. Florence Lustman, inspecteur général des finances, est chargée d’animer, de piloter et d’évaluer la mise en œuvre interministérielle du plan sur l’ensemble de ses volets.

ALZHEIMER PLAN OF 2008-2012 Alzheimer’s disease and similar diseases increase inexorably with age: as from the age of 85 one woman out of four and one man out of five are affected. In the face of this threefold scientific, medical and social challenge the President of the French Republic launched, in February 2008, the 2008-2012 Alzheimer Plan, which is endowed with specific means. It concentrates on patients and their families and aims at making unprecedented efforts in research, privileging early diagnosis and taking better charge of both patients and their carers. 44 steps are being taken in the fields of health, solidarity and research (biomedical, fundamental, clinical, economic and social) thus adopting an overall approach to the pathology. The general inspector of Finances, Florence Lustman, is in charge of conducting, piloting and assessing the inter-ministerial setting up of the plan in all its different sections.
