Résumé À partir d’une perspective combinant analyses sociologique et éthique et évaluation médicale, les auteurs rendent compte des usages de la télémédecine en gériatrie, observables dans le cadre de téléconsultations médicales, pour comprendre la place qui est faite aux patients âgés. Ils montrent que celle-ci dépend principalement de l’organisation pratique de la consultation et des modalités d’usage concrètes des dispositifs techniques, qui ne sont, en euxmêmes, ni déshumanisants ni humanisants. Les auteurs mettent ainsi en évidence l’importance des évaluations socio-organisationnelles in situ de ces nouvelles formes d’exercice médical.

TELEMEDICINE AND GERIATRICS. OLDER PATIENTS’ PLACE IN THE TELEGERIA NETWORK OF REMOTE MEDICAL CONSULTATION FACILITIES.From the perspective of combining sociological analyses with ethics and medical assessment, the authors report on the uses of telemedicine in geriatrics, observable within the framework of medical tele-consultations, in order to understand how older patients fit in. They show that older people depend mainly on the practical organisation of the consultation and on the ways of using technical facilities, which are, in themselves, neither humanising nor dehumanising. The authors underline the importance of on the spot socio-organisational assessment of this new kind of medical exercise.
