This study shows that we can only represent Christ well if we know that we never represent Him alone: representation is ecclesial, in the double sense that it springs from community life and always refers back to it. We can never represent Him in His entirety: there’s something lacking in what I show of Christ. Ecclesial representation therefore calls on its privileged bearers to humility, authentic chastity in their relational life and ongoing personal conversion.
