At a time when research has shown that living in a homoparental family makes no significant difference to children compared to those living in heteroparental families, this research is in line with the advances made concerning these new families. More specifically, since the literature has been largely concerned with the experiences of children in homoparental settings, few studies have explored the experiences of prospective parents. Through a qualitative survey of five homosexual women, we investigated the desire for a child in a couple that has not yet started the process. The analysis tends to show that women face many uncertainties, as described in this article, concerning their future motherhood, and try to solve them through constant reflection. It was thus possible to illustrate a potential mechanism that would allow them to find an alternative with regard to the importance of the biological aspect in their parental project. In this article a concept called imaginary standardization is proposed, as a compromise in the face of the necessary biological aspect while distancing it from future parenting. This concept, proposed as part of this work, could be put to the test in the field in order to investigate it further and to identify all its dimensions.
