Cette histoire pourrait continuer avec Jimi Hendrix affranchissant la guitare ou Bob Marley dénonçant Babylone et se liant d’amitié avec le Rastafari. Nous pourrions raconter son déclin avec le hard rock et les Rolling Stones provoquant les gardiens du temple des idées bien-pensantes et du bon goût musical avec « Sympathy for the Devil ». Cette histoire pourrait finir dans un clip diffusé sur MTV, dépouillant la culture hip-hop de toute hostilité contre le « système ». Mais l’Histoire est complexe à chaque génération ses identités résistantes aux dogmes. The history of the underground could begin with Socrates’ drinking the hemlock after his trial or even with Diogenes’ condemning the restrictions on democracy in Athens. It could also start with the first generation of jazz musicians and those who followed them, the boppers and the free jazz movement who bucked the system, shouting, “Down with moderation !” The story might continue with Jimi Hendrix’s liberation of the guitar or Bob Marley’s railing against Babylon and his friendship with Rastafarians. We can chart its decline with the advent of hard rock and the Rolling Stones, whose “Sympathy for the Devil” was a provocation aimed at the narrow-minded keepers of the temple of good musical taste. This history could conclude with a clip shown on MTV depicting a hip-hop culture stripped of all its animus to the “system.” However, history is complex and each generation has its own identities that resist dogma. This article explores the anthropology of the Tunisian underground as it moves between determination and adventure, as well as its ways of resisting the dictatorship through cyber-resistance.
