In 1970, in one of the first MLF groups, “les Petites Marguerites”, Catherine heard a little homophobic phrase. She wrote to Monique Wittig asking if homosexuality would be accepted in the Women’s Lib movement. She was the first one to question this enabling the emergence of censored and self-censored speech.A few years later she wrote “Radicale-ment, Nature-elle-ment” in the Revue d’en face to counter lesbian radicalism which claimed to be more political than feminism and essentialized heterosexuality (all collaborators as in 1940?) and consecrated “lesbians” as the revolutionary avant-garde in essence.
