C’est dans ce qui fut l’hôtel particulier de la danseuse Isadora Duncan à Meudon-Bellevue, alors fréquenté par le sculpteur Rodin, que le CNRS implanta un ensemble de laboratoires au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Un petit groupe de jeunes chercheurs qui y travaillaient s’organisèrent en auto-enseignement avec pour thème les nouveaux développements de la physique statistique du non-équilibre de l’école de Bruxelles. Baignés par l’ambiance de l’école de danse d’Isadora ils remplirent les tableaux de la salle du conseil des labos de graphes synthétiques et esthétiques jusqu’à un point de blocage de leur compréhension. C’est par la vision fugitive et polissonne d’un dessin esquissé par Rodin qu’ils pourront reprendre leurs recherches.

It was in what was once the private mansion of the dancer Isadora Duncan in Meudon-Bellevue, then frequented by the sculptor Rodin, that the CNRS set up a group of laboratories in the aftermath of the Second World War. A small group of young researchers who worked there organized themselves in a self-teaching program with the theme of the new developments of the statistical physics of the non-equilibrium of the Brussels school. Bathed in the atmosphere of Isadora’s school of dance, they filled the tables of the board room of the labs with synthetic and aesthetic graphs to the point of blocking their understanding. It is through the fleeting and light vision of a drawing sketched by Rodin that they will be able to resume their research.
