Strange Double, Double Stranger According to the correspondence between Freud and Arthur Schnitzler in correlation with the article “Das Unheimliche”, the author shares the paralyzing and fascinating strangeness of the idea of the Double. This experience is cleared through with literary texts in which the Double destroys and makes the subject disappear. Whereas in Maupassant’s work, the Double appears most of the time as a “passer-by” revealing an ignored and familiar oneself at the same time. The clinical cases mentioned exemplify it.
