The transition to parenthood among adolescents: a systematic review of the literature
Type de matériel :
79
The aim of this literature review is to synthesize the results of national and international scientific literature dealing with teenage mothers’ and fathers’ transition to parenthood, and then to compare their results in order to point out similarities and differences between paternal or maternal experiences. Using the PRISMA method to conduct a systematic review, three main themes emerged: 1) the construction of teenage motherhood or fatherhood identity; 2) the changes induced by the process of becoming a parent; 3) the influence and the impact of the family of origin, the partner, health professionals, and peers. This synthesis contributes to a better understanding of teenage parenthood and the needs of adolescent parents. It also highlights the lack of research on this topic. Finally, it invites a reflection on the different means of support available for teenage parents, especially in a francophone context where research and prevention or intervention programs for teenage parents remain rare.
