Family reconstruction is widely encountered in contemporary clinical practice. Due to its quality as a singular event, it provides the occasion for a reworking of psychological patterns. The frequent demand for family therapy that arises for its sake must be listened to attentively when it bears the sharp imprint of negative contents mobilised during the former alliance. Therapy for the newly formed couple proves to be a relevant approach to bring back into action the repressed, denied and polarised contents that the denegative pact no longer holds.Through clinical examples, the author explores the new alliance and family reconstitution with varying outcomes.
