RésuméL’article interroge la pertinence du diagnostic dans les situations complexes de maltraitance d’enfants. Complexité qui suscite chez nombre de professionnels et intervenants de l’enfance, embarras et prises de position parfois arbitraires. En effet, le clinicien ne peut qu’être bouleversé sur le plan émotionnel par les détresses et souffrances morales habituellement présentes dans ces situations. La menace existe alors d’être débordé par ses représentations, au risque de perdre sa neutralité et son efficacité. Il est dès lors capital de respecter un temps dans la prise en charge pour poser un diagnostic rigoureux et objectif. C’est en structurant ainsi le temps que l’on se donne les moyens de parvenir à déployer un accompagnement thérapeutique pertinent. Pour illustrer le propos, l’auteur s’appuie sur trois vignettes cliniques, qui sans être paradigmatiques, donnent des facettes d’une réalité rencontrée par beaucoup.

Child abuse: the question of diagnosisThe paper questions the relevance of diagnosis in complex situations of child abuse. Complexity that arises among many professionals and child caregivers, embarrassment and the taking sometimes of arbitrary positions. In fact, the clinician can only be overwhelmed emotionally by the distress and mental anguish usually present in these situations. The threat exists for the clinician to be overwhelmed by pre-established ideas at the risk of losing neutrality and efficacy. It is therefore of major interest to follow a time management structure in order to establish a rigorous and objective diagnosis. By adhering to a time structure one can obtain the means to achieve an accompanying therapeutic relevance. To illustrate this point, the author presents three short clinical sketches, which without being paradigmatic, reveals the facets of reality often faced by patients.

Maltrato infantil: la cuestión del diagnósticoEl artículo interroga la pertinencia del diagnóstico en las situaciones complejas de maltrato infantil. Complejidad que provoca en numerosos profesionales y participantes infantiles, desorientación y posicionamientos a veces arbitrarios. Y es que el clínico no puede sino quedarse turbado a nivel emocional por el desamparo y sufrimientos morales que suelen presentar estas situaciones. Está entonces con la amenaza de quedar desbordado por las propias representaciones, con riesgo de perder la neutralidad y su eficacia. De ahí que sea fundamental respetar un tiempo en los cuidados para emitir un diagnóstico riguroso y objetivo. Estructurando así el tiempo es como pueden conseguirse los medios de desplegar un acompañamiento terapeútico pertinente. Para ilustrar su exposición, el autor hace hincapié en tres viñetas clínicas, que, sin ser paradigmáticas, enseñan unas facetas de una realidad que muchos han conocido.
