In the family, the members play bodily, with objects, with words, individually or severally. This natural and universal activity takes part in the mythopoietic function of the family and in the transformation processes that the transmission of psychic life demands. When these functions are lacking, the family experiences suffering. Based on practical examples, the article shows that psychoanalytic family therapy then offers a neo-group to (re-)learn to play, where raw objects and relational objets can be drivers or mediators for various moments in the therapeutic process.
