The Incorporation of African Lawyers into the French Bar
Type de matériel :
11
In order to take into account the social history of African lawyers in France, this paper examines the legal modes of their incorporation into the legal profession from the colonial period to decolonization. It then investigates the sociological determinants of their contemporary professional practice. By focusing more specifically on the analysis of the relationship they have with immigrant communities – professional networks, rhetorical strategies and civic engagement – this essay tries to understand how African lawyers can contribute to the reproduction of a political consensus on immigration.
