What Corporate Social Responsibility Does to the Law: The Case of the Distribution Industry

The voluntary corporate social responsibility (CSR) movement is characterized by enterprises’ involvement in social or environmental projects which exceed legal requirements. This definition makes a link between corporate social responsibility and law, and questions it in several ways. Focusing on one large French corporation, this article intends to observe the creation of the social responsibility projects in the distribution industry in order to highlight the link between law and CSR.
