Social rights are central to Georges Gurvitch’s political and legal theory, but they remain inseparable from a transformation of private property. In this sense, social rights also permit the identification of the key role of social groups in constructing a legal order. Social rights also provide a means of analyzing Gurvitch’s political evolution in the middle of the 20th century.
