L’auteur décrit les différents types de déficiences cognitives que l’on trouve dans l’enfance, dont certaines ont une origine organique, d’autres une origine psychologiques, d’autres encore une origine mixte. Parmi ces déficiences, il distingue le « syndrome de dysharmonie cognitive pathologique » caractérisé par une asynchronie du développement, et le « syndrome de retard d’organisation cognitive » caractérisé par un contraste entre un niveau intellectuel normal et une organisation cognitive retardée. L’étiologie de ces syndromes associe probablement des facteurs constitutionnels et des facteurs d’environnement qui perturbent non seulement le développement cognitif mais aussi la vie fantasmatique.

The author describes the different types of cognitive deficiencies found in children, some of which have organic causes, others psychological causes and some are of mixed origin. Among these deficiencies, he distinguishes the “pathological cognitive disharmony syndrome” characterized by an asynchrony of development, and the “cognitive organisation delay syndrome” characterized by a contrast between a normal intellectual level and a delayed cognitive organisation. The cause of these syndromes probably combines constitutional and environmental factors, which disturb not only the cognitive development, but also the phantasy life.
