It contains instructions given in 1654 by Pierre Gassendi to Samuel Sorbière concerning the publication of his Opera omnia. After describing the stages in the reorganization of Gassendi’s philosophical and editorial project, I show the differences between the 1654 project, the publication announcement as presented in a 1656 leaflet, and the 1658 posthumous publication. The contractual terms Gassendi himself negotiates are also significant inasmuch as they reveal his interest in Church history.
