This “dossier” examines cultural aspects of the Thirty Years’ War: representations and perceptions of people who lived through it, under the impact (or the threat) of violence. It re-examines the primordial question of the place of religion within this conflict, and it seeks to determine what place the Thirty Years’ War occupies among world conflicts between overseas empires.
